Irene Bindi is Production Editor for the Winnipeg-based publisher ARP Books.  ARP’s mandate is to publish a dynamic combination of cultural, fiction, and non-fiction titles with an emphasis on progressive political analysis of contemporary issues, while encouraging innovative new writing. Irene’s role at ARP encompasses a range of duties, including working with the Executive Editor on acquisitions, overseeing the production of titles from early editorial stages, through peer review (when required), copy edit, design and typesetting, proofreading, and printing. In addition to this, she works with writers to come up with targeted marketing plans for their books. These strategies include but are not limited to: obtaining blurbs, social media, preparing ARCs and e-ARCS, developing catalogues, representing books at trade shows, writing media releases, event planning, and researching awards or other initiatives appropriate to specific titles. Irene is also active in Winnipeg’s art community as a practicing artist, and sits on the board of Plugin ICA. She holds an hons. BA in English and Film from Western University, and a Masters Degree in Film Studies from York University.
