Lynda’s background in writing, drama, and teaching lend themselves well to creating environments where writers are inspired and prolific. She is an AWA Affiliate, certified to lead in the proven Amherst Writers & Artists workshop method, where everyone is a writer and practiced and emerging voices receive support.
As a member of The Writers Community of Durham Region, Lynda served in several roles on the board, co-founded Tell Me a Story, a fundraiser writing challenge, and hosted The Write Tour, a community writing circle. Lynda’s short stories appeared in Signatures, lichen, TK06, and her story “Out of the Ashes” was long listed in the Pheonix Short Story Contest and later published in the Phoenix anthology.
Her publications include, newspaper, magazine, and online articles and columns, children’s and adult fiction, and poetry. To develop her public speaking skills, Lynda performed, and was a finalist, in WCDR’s Summer Slam competitions. Years of enjoying the adventures and misadventures of travel with her husband and adult children in Panama birthed the idea for Tranquilo Retreat. Lynda will soon transition from teaching to live her dream as a writer and provider of a tropical writing space.
