we leave our initials

Poetry

smoke on your lips
park bench beer gullets
red carnival dog in cellophane cocoon
dragged through subway breezes
Montreal eyes wild open

nuestras lenguas push against
borders that filter your presence
aquí name you         secret butterfly
                                 night call novio
                                 impermanent

cien dólares split
between taxi cab to stairwell & mcdonald’s
we stain the concrete with our shadows

pocket condom wish
in the grace before dawn
anticipation turns to aftermath

no hubo                    sangre
there was no            catch up
                                 timestop
                                 losing
sólo hubo                  aire
there was only          floating
                                 madrugada

                                 fingertip brevity
